Experience Cibola County from the trail up. Outdoor Recreation College Weekend brings college students, alumni, outdoor clubs, and adventure enthusiasts together for several days of hiking, mountain biking, exploration, friendly competition, and connection in the landscapes of western New Mexico.

Hosted in partnership with Cibola Outdoors, Cibola Trail Alliance, and the Continental Divide Trail Coalition, the weekend is part of a larger effort to showcase Cibola County as a growing outdoor recreation destination and introduce a new generation of visitors to everything the region has to offer.

More Than Expected

Participants can experience signature outdoor adventures including Ride the Zunis, featuring mountain biking through the Zuni Mountains, and Lava & Legends, an exploration of the region's volcanic landscapes, trails, and history. The weekend also builds excitement for the Mt. Taylor Quadrathlon, giving students an opportunity to connect, train, explore, and experience the community behind one of the area's signature outdoor events.

Colleges from New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Utah and beyond are being welcomed to Cibola County for the event. Whether you hike, bike, run, explore, compete—or simply want to spend a weekend outside—there is a place for you.
